I recently acquired a “geek” camera, the typical British tourist SLR. The guy who sold me the camera didn’t seem too pleased when I waltzed in asking if I could purchase a geek camera, and then when he tried to sell me lens filters, which I quote “they can make any scenery more attractive to the eye” I asked if it was at all possible to make Skegness pretty, again the salesman didn’t appreciate my comment. But to top my irritation to the man all off, he tried to sell me several extra lenses. He was suitably unimpressed when I said, “one can stay at home, who needs to go abroad for their holiday photos, just stand on top of a hill, attach the super doper lens and shoot.” By this time I thought it best just to buy the camera and get out as quickly as possible. Although the salesman wasn’t at all impressed by my sarcastic comments I absolutely love the camera, even though I get the Mickey taken out of me for actually carrying it around with me almost everywhere I go.
I have been offered an unconditional offer at Lincoln School of Art to do contemporary lens media, I’m so excited about starting the course and living on my own, finally no more Spanish inquisition as soon as I walk in after a night out or an evening in!
